Quotes To Design By
September 16, 2009
“Design is the term we use to describe both the process and the result of giving tangible form to human ideas. Design doesn’t just contribute to the quality of life; design, in many ways, now constitutes the quality of life.”
-Peter Lawrence

I saw this dining room on Dwell this morning and fell in love with it!

Pacific Heights Remodel Dining Room by Nicole Hollis
The room was designed by Nicole Hollis of Nicole Hollis Interior Design and is located in Pacific Heights. Check out the full article for more information on the entire space.
I thought I would put together a few piece that could help you replicate this space in your own home.
First, the farm house table:

Modern Farm Dining Table from West Elm
With the farm house bench:

Along with the modern wing back chair:

Gates Chair from West Elm
All three of the pieces above are from West Elm
Once you know the placement of your table, have an electrician install two j-boxes above the table and install two of these fixtures:

Besa Lighting Pendant Light- 1KV Tamburo Collection
This fixture is by Besa Lighting and can be purchased from Form Plus Function.
The last major piece is the mirror. A mirror this size can be fabricated by a local glass shop. Have them put a simple frame around it and prop it against the wall and secure it to achieve the same effect as the picture above.
Add some clear glass tableware and you will have a great room!
Versatile Seating!
August 4, 2009
I’m Back! And, I have for you some great pieces of seating… So let’s get started!

Icon Counter Stool by Emeco and Philippe Starck
This first piece of seating is the Icon Counter Stool by Philippe Starck and Emeco (emeco.net). It is made of 100% Aluminum, 80% of which is recycled, and also comes in a chair and a bar stool. What makes this chair great is that you can basically get it in any color you want! The standard is either brushed aluminum or polished aluminum, but you can also Special Order it powder coated to meet your color specifications. I love the versatility of this chair!

Bunny Girl Chair by Sawaya & Moroni
This second piece is the Bunny Girl Chair by Sawaya & Moroni (sawayamoroni.com). The chair is formed with one piece of molded plywood which rests on legs of chromed steel in either a polished or satin finish. This chair would look amazing in a contemporary cafe setting. If you order more than 20, you can get the chair in any color you want.

Section Bench by Council
Lastly, this is the Section Bench by Council (councildesign.com). This flexible piece is perfect as seating, storage, and display. It measures at 88″w x 16″ h and can be manufactured in veneered wood, upholstery, stainless steel for outdoor use, and powder coated. I would love to use this in an outdoor application. The versatility of the individual pieces (which can also be stacked and joined together) would allow for a multitude of configurations.
A Few Fabulous Finds!

Here are some fabulous pieces that I am loving today!

Hollywood Regency Chair- from Fabulousmess on Etsy.com
I love this chair! The seller reupholstered it in black patent leather and painted the frame a high gloss black. It has such classic lines and details- it would be perfect in an entry or in a bedroom as a reading chair. If you have a chair like this with a not so great fabric- don’t despair! As you can see here- it can definitely be salvaged.

Grey and Yellow Accent Table from OhClementine on Etsy.com
Another great piece from Etsy.com! This table is fabulous! I love the color combination the seller chose to paint it. And, it’s another piece you could do yourself with practically any accent table- pick two colors and get painting!

Sunflower Down Throw Pillows from thisisnotikea.com
These two down throw pillows from thisisnotikea.com caught my eye immediately. The colors are great and would perk up any neutral sofa, but what I love even more is the scale of the design. These bold, large scale fabrics are great for the summer and with these pillows, you don’t have to spend a lot to get an interesting summertime room.
